This package includes breakfast and arrival brunch in London. In Israel both breakfast and evening dinner is included. Lunch is not included in Israel – but the breakfast and dinner buffets are huge with a magnificent array of choices!
Jeff and Kay look forward to showing you, London, their home town, the city they know so well. In Israel Jeff will be teaching and sharing from the scripture in the ‘land of Jesus” in his own unique way. This will take place at the special sites and/or in the evenings following dinner, when an optional gathering is planned.
Depart from Denver at approx. 19:30pm to London Heathrow arriving at around 11:30am on Saturday 21st April. (Flights and prices are based on British Airways flights from Denver) (see right) You will be met by our representative guide/driver who will escort you to your hotel in Marble Arch.
After brunch join our optional walking tour through Oxford Street, Duke Street and a visit to The Wallace Collection.
We leave our hotel at 3pm sharp and walk the short distance to Oxford Street, the UK’s favorite High Street and the most visited shopping street in Europe then via Duke Street famous from the BBC drama series ‘The Duchess of Duke Street’. No time for shopping today as we are on our way to The Wallace Collection – a national museum in an historic London town house. In 25 galleries are unsurpassed displays of French 18th-century paintings, furniture and porcelain with superb Old Master paintings and a world class armory. The Great Gallery has been described as “the greatest picture gallery in Europe.” It reopened in September 2014, following a two year refurbishment with a new hang and a reconfigured ceiling allowing natural light in. After the museum closes at 5pm we will walk the short distance back to the hotel. For the hardier among us, theater tickets can be ordered from the concierge at the hotel, (subject to availability) or ahead of time online.
After breakfast we depart for the Tower of London. (see right) Built in 1078 the Tower is one of the world’s most famous fortresses which have seen service as a royal palace, prison, armory and even a zoo. The Tower is still home for Her Majesty’s Crown Jewels, on display for visitors to see. Legend has it that if the six ravens inhabiting the court ever leave – the court and the Tower will fall.
You will also encounter the famous Beefeaters, also known as the Yeomen Warders and much more. We will then transfer back to the hotel. You will have the afternoon and evening of leisure to explore Oxford street and London in all its glory.
After breakfast you will meet at the reception for a full day London panoramic sightseeing tour including Buckingham Palace – the official residence for the UK’s sovereigns since 1837, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge and the famous Great Bell, more commonly known by its’ nickname, Big Ben. The tour includes guided stops at Westminster Abbey and St Pauls Cathedral (see left). Westminster Abbey was the wedding location for Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011. Westminster Abbey was first built in 960 and rebuilt in 1517 and has served as the coronation church for English and British monarchs since 1066 with seventeen monarchs buried in the grounds. If you look closely you will see schoolboy graffiti from the 1700s to the 1800s. We will then make a short lunch stop, you can try some local cuisine (this must be paid for locally). We then move onto St. Pauls Cathedral which sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London; its dome dominated the London skyline for 300 years. At 365 feet high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1967. The church was the funeral site for Sir Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher and held the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer.
