Israel/Jordan Border crossing – Jerash – Amman

Departure from Tel Aviv & Jerusalem to the border. After border crossing procedures enter in Jordan and proceed to Jerash – city of the Decapolis – located about 45 km. (see left) north of Amman in the fertile heights of the Gilead. Visit the ancient Roman city with colonnaded streets, the baths and the hilltop temple, and then drive to Amman – the capital of Jordan. After a short orientation tour viewing the various landmarks of the city drive to the hotel for overnight.

Petra (see right)

After an early breakfast, leave the hotel and travel south on the road to Wadi Musa. Take a horse ride from the Visitors’ Centre to the entrance of the dramatic “Siq” (Canyon), then walk through it to Petra – known as the red rock city – the ancient capital of the Nabateans from the 3rd century BC to the 2nd century AC. Visit the most interesting carved monuments, such as the Treasury (El Khazneh – the tomb of a Nabatean king), then the field of tombs, obelisks and the altar (Al Mashbah). From this point you can view the whole of the rock city. Then back to Wadi Musa village and drive back to Amman for overnight.

Madaba – Mount Nebo – Jordan/Israel border crossing

After breakfast leave the hotel. Drive to Madaba to see the ancient mosaic map of the Holyland and the ruins of the historical site. Continue about 10 km. to Mount Nebo, (see left) from where Moses viewed the Promised Land. From there you will see the Jordan Valley, Jericho and the Dead Sea. Visit the remains of a Byzantine church with a mosaic floor, and then drive to the border and back to Jerusalem & Tel Aviv.

To give accurate pricing it would be helpful to have the following details:

  1. Travel dates – Exact dates would be ideal, rough dates are helpful. December to February excluding school holiday periods is the cheapest time to visit. School Holiday periods are the most expensive.
  2. Hotel rooms – Do you require a Double/Twin sharing room, a Single room or a Triple room. (Please note: 3rd bed in a Triple room is a pull out sofa type bed, suitable for teenagers/young adults)
  3. Hotel standard – 3, 4, or 5 star hotels required?
  4. Flights – Would Heathrow or Luton, suit you best? Luton is normally cheaper due to airport taxation. (Please note: Flight prices are subject to change and price MUST be re-confirmed at the time of booking)

Tours do not operate at certain times of the year due to religious holidays. Itinerary may be altered or withdrawn due to prevailing local conditions.

The Jordan tours do not include border/visa charges. A valid visa is required for travel to Jordan
