Depart from London for your day time flight to Ben Gurion Airport Tel Aviv. Transfer to your Hotel in time for evening dinner.
After breakfast we shall drive the short distance to Nazareth passing through Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed his first recorded miracle. We will visit the Nazareth Village and the Basilica of the Annunciation before travelling the thirty-minute Journey to the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Following a St Peter’s Fish lunch in Tiberias we shall take a boat trip on the Lake and hold a short communion service whilst “out at sea.” Landing in Capernaum we shall visit Tabgha (Feeding of the Five Thousand), Mensa Christi (“Feed My Sheep”) and the Mount of Beatitudes before returning to our Hotel.
We drive North for a walk in the Banias National Park to the waterfall at Caesarea Philippi. After lunch we visit the Baptismal site at Yardenit, before proceeding to Beit She’an where King Saul’s head was displayed. Next, we take a visit to the ancient synagogue at Beit Alpha. We will then return for an overnight stay at our Hotel.
The morning starts with a drive to Saffori and the capital of Galilee in the time of Jesus. We continue on to Megiddo (Armageddon), onto Mount Carmel where we encounter a stunning view from the roof thought to be located in the spot where Elijah contested with the prophets of Ba’al. We depart for Jerusalem, stopping at Caesarea (Marittima,) where Cornelius was converted and now known to be the home of Pontius Pilate. Check-in to your hotel will follow.
Today we shall start our walk at the Western (Wailing) Wall where it is likely that we shall see Bar Mitzvah’s taking place. Do not feel nervous about joining their celebrations, you will be welcome. Next onto the Temple Mount, Saint Stephen’s Gate (Also known as the Lion Gate), the Pool of Bethesda and the Via Dolarosa (The Way of Sorrows). We stop for a rest and encounter an amazing view at the Austrian Hospice before continuing to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. A walk through the Suk (Bazaar) will bring you to the Cardo the main street from the time of Jesus. Next, we visit the Davidson Centre with its superb dynamic of the Temple and the Southern Steps of the Temple where Jesus overturned the temple rogue traders. Evening free.
This morning we visit Bethlehem and view the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherd’s Fields. There will be an opportunity to visit and meet the Arab Christians at Beit al Liqa (www.beitliqa.org Click on English!) In the afternoon Starting from the Mount of Olives, we visit Dominus Flevit (The Tear Drop Church), the Garden of Gethsemane and the Garden Tomb (Sometimes called Gordon’s Calvary,) where there will be an opportunity for communion, and reflection.
Travel down the Jericho Road to the lowest point on Earth at approximately 1300 ft below Sea Level. First a visit to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Next ascend to the summit of Masada by cable car to hear its amazing story. We stop for lunch (paid locally) at the Ahava Dead Sea products base for an opportunity to buy some special cosmetics before spending time in mud baths, swimming in the Dead Sea, taking Natural Hot Sulphur Spring baths and swimming in the pool at one of the Dead Sea Spa resorts such as Kalia Beach.
This morning we visit the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the amazing Model of the City showing Jerusalem as it may well have been in the time of Jesus, before a final visit to the Old City for some shopping or simply relaxation. After a biblical lunch at Neot Kedumin, we transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for your return flight home to London.
