Depart from Edinburgh for your day time flight to Ben Gurion Airport Tel Aviv via Istanbul.
Transfer to hotel in time for evening dinner where you will be checking-in at the Mary’s Well Hotel in Nazareth.
After breakfast we shall visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and go to Nazareth Village before travelling the 30 minute Journey to the shores of the Sea of Galilee. After a lunch stop in Tiberias we shall take a 90 min boat trip on the Lake and hold a (one hour) communion service whilst “out at sea.” Landing in Capernaum we shall visit Tabgha (Feeding of the 5000) and Mensa Christi beach (John 21 -“Feed My Sheep”) before returning to the Mary’s Well Hotel in Nazareth.
Following breakfast, we cross into Jordan via Sheik Hussein border and are met by our Jordanian guide and coach driver. Our first stop will be Tel Mar Elias, the location where Elijah ascended to heaven not far from Tishbe, his birthplace. Then we go to Jerash, the well-preserved Roman city, onto Tishbe, prior to dinner & overnight at the Sculptors Hotel, Petra, Jordan.
We spend a whole day touring Petra. It is a famous archaeological site in Jordan’s southwestern desert. Dating to around 300 B.C., it was the capital of the NabateanKingdom. Accessed via a narrow canyon called Al Siq, it contains tombs and temples carved into pink sandstone cliffs, earning its nickname, the “Rose City.” Perhaps its most famous structure is 45m-high Al Khazneh, a temple with an ornate, Greek-style facade, and known as“The Treasury”. Then dinner & overnight at the Ibis Hotel, Amman, Jordan.
We head to Madaba to view the famous mosaic (St. George Church & Mosaic Map) before we ascend Mount Nebo where Moses viewed the promised land and visit on Mt Nebo Moses Memorial Church and /or the Church of SS Lot & Procopius near the village of Khirbet Mukhayet with its remarkable mosaics. Next, to Bethany beyond the Jordan exploring this site linked to the baptism of Jesus on the east bank of the Jordan river, including time for an hour’s worship on this site as well as the tour. We cross back into Israel travel to the Paradise Hotel, Bethlehem, for dinner and overnight stay.
This morning we explore Bethlehem and view the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherd’s Fields. Later we visit Jericho possibly passing a 2,000-year-old sycamore tree on Ein as-Sultan Street and visiting Tel al-Sultan (old Jericho). We will visit the Mount of Temptation where Jesus was tempted by the devil and the nearby Monastery of Qurantul. End the day with a float in the Dead Sea. Return to the Paradise Hotel, Bethlehem, for dinner and overnight.
Walk down Mount of Olives via Dominus Flavit Church to the Garden of Gethsemane; and finish at the Garden Tomb prior to dinner and overnight at the hotel in Bethlehem.
Transfer to airport for flight home to Edinburgh after breakfast at hotel.
