Marian is a minister in the Methodist Church and, many years ago, was a nurse. For almost 40 years, she has been leading groups to the Holy Land, Greece (In the Steps of St Paul), Turkey
(Churches of Revelation), Rome and Assisi and Jordan. She’s also visited Israel and Palestine many times ‘under her own steam’ and is still excited by the Biblical sites and new discoveries.
If you’ve been before, there are always new things to see; if you’ve always longed to visit, Marian would love to share this pilgrimage with you.

Meet at the airport to check in together for our flight to Tel Aviv from where we will continue the journey by coach to our hotel in Bethlehem.

After a short rest we will enjoy dinner in our hotel.

Day 2 Wednesday 3rd AprilRead More

We will start our day with a visit of Shepherds’ Fields and The Church of the Nativity.

Continue to the Tent of Nations, a Peace Organisation outside Bethlehem, whose leader, Daoud Nassar, was awarded the World Methodist Peace Prize in 2018. After lunch we will have an opportunity to shop at a craft centre and for gifts in Bethlehem.

Day 3 Thursday 4th AprilRead More

By coach to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view the Old City of Jerusalem; walk part of the Palm Sunday route down the Mount of Olives, visiting the churches of Pater Noster, Dominus Flevit (where Jesus wept over Jerusalem) and the Church of Mary Magdalen, arriving at the foot of the Mount of Olives to visit The Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane.  We will celebrate Holy Communion among the olive trees in the Garden then cross the Kidron Valley to the site of the house of Caiaphas, where the Church of St Peter in Gallicantu now stands. Stopping at some point for lunch, we will visit the Western Wall and the Archaeological Park before returning to the hotel.

We will travel to Jerusalem to visit the Israel Museum for the Jerusalem model and The Shrine of the Book. Then, to a possible site of Emmaus at Abu Ghosh and on to Ein Kerem (birthplace of John the Baptist).

On our way back to the hotel in Jerusalem, we will visit the Garden Tomb.

Day 5 Saturday 6th April Read More

Today, with an early start, we visit Masada, the mountain top fortress, and ascend by cable car, then on to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and take time out to ‘swim’ in the Dead Sea. A short detour takes us to Qasr el Yehud, a possible site of the baptism of Jesus.

Day 6 Sunday 7th April Read More

We leave our hotel in Bethlehem to join the congregation at St George’s Cathedral for their early morning service (8am) then we set out for the Old City of Jerusalem through St Stephen’s Gate, visiting the Pool of Bethesda and St Anne’s Church. Walking the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross, we make our way to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, then, if possible, we will visit the Syrian Church of St Mark.

Day 7 Monday 8th April Read More

On our way to Tiberias, we visit Bethany, home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. We will travel to Jericho and take a cable car up the Mount of Temptation, enjoying the views. Then continue travelling on the journey to see the excavations at Beit She’an, the place where King Saul was killed.

Day 8 Tuesday 9th AprilRead More

Visit sites around the Sea of Galilee – Magdala and the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum,   Tabgha (the loaves and fishes), the Church of Peter’s Primacy. Continue to the Golan Heights and Banias (Caesarea Philippi) where there Jesus asked his followers: ‘Who do you say that I am?’ There will be an opportunity to renew the vows made on our behalf at our baptism.

Day 9 Wednesday 10th April Read More

This morning, we take a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee and see the ‘Jesus’ boat in the museum at Kibbutz Ginnosar. Then, we ascend Mount Tabor, a possible site of the Transfiguration and continue to Nazareth to visit the significant churches there – the Basilica of the Annunciation, the Church of Mary’s Well and the Synagogue Church – then to Cana, the place of Jesus’ first miracle.

Day 10 Thursday 11th April Read More

On our way to Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv, for a late afternoon flight, we stop at a site on the shore of Galilee for Holy Communion  and then travel for a quick overview of Caesarea Maritima where Paul was imprisoned and where Peter baptised Cornelius and his household before arriving at the airport for our flight back to the U.K.
