After breakfast we are in store for the highlight of Jordan. We spend a whole day touring Petra (see left), shown around by a local Bedouin guide who resides in the city.

Petra is a famous archaeological site in Jordan’s southwestern desert. Dating to around 300 B.C., it was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Accessed via a narrow canyon called Al Siq, it contains tombs and temples carved into pink sandstone cliffs, earning its nickname, the “Rose City.” Perhaps its most famous structure is 45m-high Al Khazneh, a temple with an ornate, Greek-style facade, and known as “The Treasury”.

Dinner and overnight at the Petra Moon hotel once more.

Sunday 14th November 2021

After breakfast we make our final stop in Jordan at Wadi Rum (see right). Lawrence of Arabia famously named it “Rum the Magnificent”.

Wadi Rum is a protected desert wilderness in southern Jordan. It features dramatic sandstone mountains like the many-domed Jebel Um Ishrin, and natural arches such as Burdah Rock Bridge. Many prehistoric inscriptions and carvings line rocky caverns and steep chasms, such as Khazali Canyon. The natural watering hole of Lawrence’s Spring is named after British soldier Lawrence of Arabia, who allegedly washed there. Here we will embark on a short Jeep Safari ride in one of local Bedouin Trucks.

We cross back into Israel via the Arava border crossing in Eilat and make the journey (approx. 3 hours) to the David hotel at the Dead Sea in time for dinner and overnight, on route we will view King Solomon’s mines as you drive by through the Negev desert.
