Day 1- Saturday 6 April 2019


Galilee here we come!

Your Trip of a lifetime starts here!

Depart from Edinburgh for your day time flight to Ben Gurion Airport Tel Aviv via Istanbul. It is likely you may meet your tour leader at the airport. (see left)

Transfer to your hotel in time for evening dinner where you will be checking-in at the Galil hotel or St Margaret’s Guest House Nazareth [or similar accommodation in Galilee].

Day 2 - Sunday 7 April 2019

Nazareth & The Sea of Galilee

After breakfast we shall drive the short distance to Nazareth passing through Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed his first recorded miracle. We will visit the Nazareth Village and the Basilica of the Annunciation before travelling the 30 minute Journey to the shores of the Sea of Galilee. After a lunch stop in Tiberias we shall take a boat trip (see right) on the Lake and hold a short communion service whilst “out at sea.” Landing in Capernaum we shall visit Tabgha (Feeding of the 5000), Mensa Christi (“Feed My Sheep” John 21) and the Mt of Beatitudes before returning to your hotel.

Day 3 - Monday 8 April 2019

The Upper Galilee Day

The morning starts with a drive to Mt Carmel where a stunning view from a roof thought to be in the spot where Elijah contested with the prophets of Ba’al. Next to Saffori and the capital of Galilee in the time of Jesus. After lunch an afternoon walk in the Banias National Park to the waterfall at Caesarea Philipi. Should timings work well the lunch stop will be at a Druze Village (see left) where you can try their unique style of food. [The price of this lunch is modest; guests pay for their own meals on the day]  Overnight at your hotel.

Day 4 - Tuesday 9 April 2019

The Central & Lower Galilee and the Mediterranean Sea

In the morning first we will visit to Beit She’an, the impressive Gentile city in the time of Jesus; next a visit to the ancient synagogue at Beit Alpha. We continue on to Meggido (Armageddon) before stopping at Caesarea Maritima (see right) where Cornelius was converted and now known to be the home of Pontius Pilate. Check-in to the Nativity Hotel in Bethlehem for the next 4 nights (or similar accommodation).

Day 5 - Wednesday 10 April 2019

The Old City Walk

Today we shall start our walk at the Western (Wailing) Wall (see left) where it is likely you will see Barmitzvah’s taking place, do not feel nervous about joining their celebrations, you will be welcome. Next to the Temple Mount, St Stephen’s Gate (Also known as the Lion Gate), Pool of Bethesda, the Via Dolarosa (The Way of Sorrows). A stop for rest and an amazing view at the Austrian Hospice before continuing to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. A walk through the Suk (Bazaar) will bring you to the Cardo the main street from the time of Jesus. Next we visit the  Davidson Centre with its superb dynamic of the Temple and the Southern Steps of the Temple where Jesus overturned the temple rogue traders.

Day 6 - Thursday 11 April 2019

Bethlehem and Jerusalem

This morning we visit Bethlehem and view the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherd’s Fields. An opportunity to visit and meet the Arab Christians at Beit al Liqa (www.beitliqa.org Click on English!) In the afternoon Starting from the Mount of Olives, visit Dominus Flavit (The Tear Drop Church), the Garden of Gethsemane (see right) and the Garden Tomb (Sometimes called Gordan’s Calvary) where there will be an opportunity for communion.

Day 7 - Friday 12 April 2019

The Dead Sea and Masada

Travel down the Jericho Road to the lowest point on Earth at approximately 1300 ft below Sea Level. First visit the baptismal site at Qasr Al-Yahud on the River Jordan near where Jesus was baptised, prior to a visit to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, next ascend to the summit of Masada (see left) by cable car to hear its amazing story. A lunch stop at the Ahava Dead Sea products base and an opportunity buy some special cosmetics before spending time in mud baths, swimming in the Dead Sea, taking Natural Hot Sulphur Spring baths and swimming in the pool at one of the Dead Sea Spa resorts.

Day 8 - Saturday 13 April 2019

Goodbye to Israel

This morning we visit the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the amazing Model of the City (see right) showing Jerusalem as it may well have been in the time of Jesus, before a final visit to the Old City for some haggling or simply relaxation. After biblical lunch at Neot Kedumin transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for your return flight home to Edinburgh.
