6th September: Thursday - Israel here we come!

We depart for our day-time flight to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. We then transfer to our hotel in Tiberius where a late supper will be provided.

7th September: Friday - Lower and Central Galilee, the Mediterranean Sea

Our visit will begin with a tour of the Nazareth Village – (see right) (a reconstruction of the village Jesus grew up in) followed by a visit to Megiddo (Armageddon). After lunch we continue on to Mount Carmel, with a stunning view from a rooftop, thought to be the spot Elijah contested with the prophets of Ba’al. We then move on to Caesarea Maritima where Cornelius was converted and Paul testified of Christ to King Agrippa. We then drive back to our hotel in Tiberius.

8th September: Saturday - Sea of Galilee and Upper Galilee

We drive to Banias National Park to the waterfall at Caesarea Philippi where it was revealed to Peter that Jesus is the Christ and Son of the Living God. We travel on to the Mount of Beautitudes where Jesus preached one of his most important sermons and we read from Matthew chapter 5. After lunch we drive to Kibbutz Ginosar where we will view the 2,000 year old boat before taking a leisurely boat trip on the Sea of Galilee, (see left) holding a short communion service, and take time to worship the Lord and reflect. We then visit Capernaum, where Jesus lived for almost three years of ministry and is said to have healed Peter’s mother-in-law, followed by seeing the shores of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus called His disciples to follow Him. From there we move on to our hotel in Tiberius.

9th September: Sunday - Lower Galilee

The morning starts with a visit to the Roman ruins of Beit She’an where King Saul’s head was displayed on a spike. We tour the ruined city and see the main Cardo as well as the remains of the Roman baths, then follow the Jordan River towards Jericho and visit the authentic baptismal site of Jesus. Before driving into Jerusalem we visit a synagogue. We finish the afternoon with a moving time in the Garden of Gethsemane, (see right) then return to our hotel in Bethlehem.

10th September: Monday - The Old City of Jerusalem

We begin the day by walking through St Stephen’s Gate to St Anne’s Church, moving onto the Via Dolarosa (The Way of Sorrows) before continuing to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (see left). After lunch we visit the Upper Room (believed to be the authentic location where the Last Supper was held) and King David’s Tomb. We end the day in the Garden Tomb where there will be an opportunity for communion, and to spend time in reflection. Our hotel, once again, is in Bethlehem.

11th September: Tuesday – Qumran, Masada, and the Dead Sea

We start the day with a visit to Qumran and tour the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, then travel to the lowest place on earth, at approximately 1,300 feet below sea level to ascend to the summit of Masada by cable car, (see right) and to hear the amazing story about the Jewish zealots’ stance against the Romans. After lunch we drive to the Dead Sea to spend time floating and relaxing in its salty waters. In the evening we have a special night out in the Old City to experience the City of David Sound and Light Show. Our hotel is in Bethlehem.

12th September: Wednesday – Jerusalem

We begin the day on the top of the Mount of Olives looking over the city of Jerusalem. (see left) Descending into the city we visit the Davidson Centre with its superb panorama of the Temple and the famous Southern Steps where Jesus overturned the rogue traders’ tables, ending up at the Western Wall for a time of personal prayer and reflection. After lunch you have the opportunity to visit Yad Vashem (the Holocaust Museum) before returning for our last evening at our hotel in Bethlehem.

13th September: Thursday – Goodbye to Israel...but not quite yet!

This morning we visit the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the amazing Model of the City, (see right) showing Jerusalem as it may well have been in the time of Jesus. We then head out to Neot Kidumim (Biblical Gardens) for a short tour and explanation of the various plants and trees mentioned in the Bible, followed by a Biblical lunch. After lunch we transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for our return to the UK.

Please note: At times our daily programme may change depending on local conditions and the advice of our guide. Every effort will be made to run the tour as per the itinerary above.
