Day 4 - Tel Dan, Caesarea Philippi, ChorazinRead More

Friday 12th November 202

Following a sumptuous Israeli buffet style breakfast, we visit the beautiful Tel Dan Nature Reserve. It boasts extensive excavations and Tel Dan is one of the largest ancient ‘tells’ in Israel, with the remains of a 5000 year old city which hosted both an ancient Canaanite civilisation as well as the Israelite tribe of Dan. The Dan stream rises into the Tel Dan Nature Reserve and is the largest and most important source of fresh water in the Jordan River.

Next we visit Banias, (Caesarea Philippi). This is one of the most important sites in the Holy Land as it was here that Jesus asks Peter the question “Who do you say I am” and Peter replies “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God” – as we will see, this is the most important question any of us can reply to. We finish the day with a visit to Chorazin in Galilee where Jesus spent much of his ministry. Evening dinner and overnight is once again at Kibbutz Hotel Hagoshrim. We will share an optional evening gathering.

Day 5 - Nazareth, Jerusalem, Western WallRead More

Saturday 13th November 2021

Following Israeli buffet style breakfast, we begin our touring with a visit to the Nazareth village. This is a very special place as we can see what life would have been like at the time of Jesus. It is an open-air museum that reconstructs village life in the Galilee. On the way to Jerusalem we stop at the spring of Harod also known as Gideon spring, we visit Beit Shean where King Saul’s head was displayed and then onto Jerusalem. We visit the Western Wall by night before heading to the Dan Panorama hotel in Jerusalem for evening dinner and overnight. We will share an optional evening gathering.

Day 6 - Herodian Fortress, Israel Museum and the Shrine of the BookRead More

Sunday 14th November 2021

Following breakfast, we spend the morning at the Herodian fortress built by King Herod. We then visit the Israel Museum to see the Model City of Jerusalem at the end of the Second Temple period in 1:50 scale – it is based on historical sources and the writings of Josephus Flavius. We will see the Shrine of the Book which houses and preserves the Dead Sea Scrolls including the complete book of Isaiah. We visit the Southern Steps where Jesus would have told Parables to the Crowds.

In the afternoon you have a choice of one of two options:

• Free time in Jerusalem at leisure, explore the city or spend time shopping.

• Tour of David’s City and Hezekiah’s tunnel.

If you choose to tour Hezekiah’s conduit then please be aware you will be walking underground through cold water which will rise to just above knee level at its highest point, and we suggest you bring suitable waterproof shoes, clothing and a torch. The walk will take around 25 minutes to reach the pool of Siloam where Jesus healed a blind man. This tour is not suitable if you are claustrophobic.

Evening dinner and overnight at the Dan Panorama hotel Jerusalem – plus our optional gathering!

We visit Ein Gedi which is literally known as “spring of the kid,  an oasis and a nature reserve in Israel, located west of the Dead Sea. Next, we ascend to the summit of Masada by cable car to hear the amazing story of Jewish resistance against a Roman siege. We then make our way to the Dead Sea the lowest point on earth, 1300ft below sea level. We will spend time in mud baths and floating in the Dead Sea, taking natural hot sulphur spring baths at one of the Dead Sea Spa resorts.

We return to the Dan Panorama in Jerusalem for evening dinner, overnight, and optional gathering with many stories to share!
