Tuesday 6th October 2026 - Pamukkale/Cappadocia (long day with early departure and late arrival)Read More

Today we drive to Cappadocia, an extensive region of odd, conic forms of gray, yellow rock, some topped with off-angle hats, and many more than 15m high. In Turkish these cones have been poetically called peri bacalari- fairy chimneys. Over 3500 rock churches have been identified in the area. Several symbols appear throughout, pomegranates, birds, lions, snakes, vines, and obvious crosses. There are many underground cities which were places of refuge where people have hidden themselves from invaders. En-route visit Pisidian Antiochia, a very rich Roman metropolis, by the foot of the impressive Taurus Mountain range. It was here, in Pisidian Antioch where the Apostle Paul delivered his first recorded sermon in Asia Minor. (Acts 13:16) (Acts 13:44). Visit the synagogue and the churches of the city together with the temple and the theatre. Check in to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Wednesday 7th October 2026 - CappadociaRead More

We will spend all day exploring the history and scenery of Cappadocia. Firstly, we’ll visit the gently folding volcanic rock formations and the “fairy chimneys” of Goreme Open Air Museum. These rock formations are not only beautiful, but functional as well. Many early Christian communities lived and worshipped deep in the rocks and crags, leaving their frescoes and paintings to be marvelled at centuries later. Other communities lived underground, and we’ll visit the underground city of Kaymaklı. To protect themselves from Roman persecution and marauding bandits, local people began to live in underground caves forming “cities” that reach a depth of up to 7 stories below the surface. The next stop is the Zelve -Pasabag valley where the iconic Fairy Chimneys dot the landscape. This is the perfect location for your guide to explain how the unique landscapes were formed as you can still see the newly forming fairy chimneys in various stages of erosion – many have caves and chapels or churches located inside. The Pasabag (or Monk’s) Valley has a rich & fascinating history and offers plenty of opportunities for photos and fresh air while walking among the different rock formations. Other sites include the Natural Citadel of Uchisar and the small, picturesque village of Avanos – famous for their red clay pottery. In Avanos we’ll visit “The Potter’s Place: Gift Shop and Cultural Centre” and have time for visiting a local potter for a demonstration and maybe you can try your own hand at the potter’s wheel. In the evening we witness and enjoy a Whirling Dervish performance show before evening dinner at our hotel.

Thursday 8th October 2026 - CappadociaRead More

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at your area hotel, your guide & driver will meet you at your hotel to begin the second day of your private tour of Cappadocia. Our first stop is a morning walk in the serene Soganli Valley. Nestled into the rolling hills in the southern part of Cappadocia, the quiet valley of Soganli offers beautiful walking paths, original dove cotes built by monks and uniquely painted churches dotting the landscape. We continue over the Gomeda Valley to the old Greek village of Sinasos – now called Mustafapasa. Prior to the founding of the current Republic of Turkey, this area was home to many ethnic Greeks. Nearly 90 years ago, the largest population exchange in recorded history took place between Greece and Turkey. The village retains the ancient Greek architecture as well as Greek Orthodox churches. With ornately carved and painted wooden doors, quaint two- storey houses with balconies and a lively village square – Sinasos is nestled into the picturesque Gomeda Valley. We enjoy our farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
